Such a luxurious hotel set in a wonderful location with a chapel adjoining it with the most beautiful stained glass. A superb wedding venue! The grounds are stunning and the staff are attentive. The hotel is like a stately home and the meals reflect this, as do the cosy bar and lounge areas. Our fabulous bedroom was a good size overlooking a courtyard and well furnished with ample storage space. The bed was solid and comfortable and the luxury bathroom had a pleasing shower and decor. We loved staying here. We also made use of the pool and jacuzzi while staying at the hotel. The hotel is in a good location close to Winnie the Pooh 's Pooh sticks bridge. We went to Arundel while here but it is not far from other places worth a visit like East Grinstead, Lewes and Brighton. Arundel is just over an hour away but it has a castle and a cathedral.

We checked in on 04/04/25 on our arrival the grounds are spectacular, it really is beautiful and well kept, large trees, flowering trees and wildlife. The building and reception area is very quirky and traditionally grand, with amazing art work and architecture. Our room was medium sized with many complimentary condiments. The room was spotless and comfortable . Breakfast is made to order and there are great choices with lots of variety. The Staff here are helpful, friendly and professional. The location is perfect nestled in to the Ashdown forest and the views are breathtaking.. The hotel also has a beautiful water feature and trail. We loved this hotel and is definitely recommended.

The breakfast was exceptional. The continental buffet offered many choices, and the breakfasts were cooked to perfection. We were in the room in the east wing. It was very pretty, with many round windows through which we could see the greenery from the trees. But the only downside was that it needed a little bit of TLC; for example, we can see the fray on the carpet edge at the bathroom door. The Dining room was beautiful; a pianist played during the first two hours, which was a very nice touch. The food presentation was outstanding and cooked to perfection.

Pleasantly surprised as thought it might be rundown elegance. But no, all in good order. Smallish room, but very comfortable bed, lovely view over the grounds. Excellent wifi in the room, which I needed to do some work. Lovely modern bathroom with strong shower. Room warm, no a/c, but turning off the heating and opening the windows worked perfectly. Coffee machine and kettle. Could maybe do with another light, as quite muted at night. Perfect for my visit to the golf club down the road. Staff professional and suitably friendly. Not amazing.

This historic hotel is situated in large grounds. We went for a lovely 5k walk with gorgeous views. Just beyond the grounds is the fantastic Ashdown Forest offering even more nature and of course, Pooh country. The spa was great (we had the pool to ourselves) and I had a foot rub treatment which was very relaxing. The afternoon tea was wonderful, the bar relaxed and comfortable and dinner in the restaurant was excellent. The cooked breakfast was top-notch!
